Writing about home and birthplace with Michael W. Thomas

by Jill Tromans

At February’s meeting of Bilston Writers, we enjoyed a workshop presented by Michael W. Thomas. The fact we are still on Zoom did nothing to diminish a very entertaining morning. Michael introduced us to the theme of Home and Birthplace, raising such questions as ‘What makes somewhere a home? Is it a property or is it more?’ Excellent examples were presented by Michael himself from his latest pamphlet, Under Smoky Light, and poems by Philip Larkin and Vinita Agarwal.

Many of us produced pieces during the meeting and others left equipped with thoughts and inspiration to ponder at our leisure.

Many thanks to Michael, who I hope will return sometime soon.

Under Smoky Light is available from Offa's Press.
