Wolverhampton Literature Festival here we come

by Karen Miller

It’s AGM January already. Can you believe it? Where has the time gone?

This session we held our Annual General Meeting followed by rehearsals for the Wolverhampton Literary Festival February 2022. This year we have eleven members reading just a teeny-tiny fraction of their very best.

During our AGM it was gratifying to hear that our Zoom sessions throughout 2021 were as successful and popular as our live meetings, with attendance at an average of fourteen members. We continued to hold workshops headed by guests as well as member-led sessions. As a group we have embraced online meetings resulting in an ever-growing confidence in technology. All members have worked hard to keep the group going throughout the pandemic, as always, with kindness, inclusivity and enthusiasm.

Rehearsals for the Literary Festival went well, with no hiccups. There is an exciting mix of comic, heartwarming, poignant poems and storytelling. We, the Audience, visit the past, examine love, family and relationships. We spy on characters sublime and hilarious, thrill in adventures overseas, and nestle in cozy nostalgia.

If you don’t want to miss out on this all-you-can-eat carvery of word-delight and storytelling, pop over to the Writers Hub at the Lighthouse on Sunday 4th February between 3:30 and 4:30. It’s free. Don’t forget to wear a mask.

If you want to join our group, follow the link on this website to get yourself on the waiting list.

Here’s to a creative and successful scribbly-writing-make-it-up-as-you-go-and-have-fun 2022.
