Plotting

Our September session was on plot. Keith Rogers guided us through an exercise where we were given a random object and had to write down how it had come into our (or our character’s) possession and what its significance might be. We discussed what we’d come up with in pairs. The objects inspired some fantastic ideas, including mystery keys posted through letterboxes, a young woman working in a factory that makes party poppers, a suffragette, an AI character, a magic feather and a mystery fertility symbol.

After the break, we used lists to generate a random character, setting, conflict and motive/emotion, which inspired even more ideas for plots.
