Sounds

Our June session was led by Karen on the theme of ‘sounds’. ‘Sounds’ was also the June prompt for Bilston Dozen (our poem-a-month project), and she encouraged us to post any sound-inspired poems on the Bilston Dozen Facebook group.

This was a session with lots of time for writing, and we spread out around the building, which felt like a real luxury. We had Karen’s brainstorming sheet on the theme to get us started, and two prompt poems: ‘The Sound Collector’ by Roger McGough and ‘On Saturday Mornings’ by Jane Seabourne (from her collection Our Beautiful Scars). Karen had also brought story cubes, poetry magnets and other aids in case anyone was still stuck for ideas.

There was even time at the end for a few people to read out what they’d written.
